Description
English: Miniature, prefacing Book III, arranged in three registers: Emilius Lepidus in battle whilst a child; Marcus Cato, as a child, witnessing Sulla's cruelties; Caius Cassius hits Sulla's son Faustus Sulla for defending his father's cruelties (left), Julius Caesar views the decapitated bodies of Pompey's nephews, and of Faustus Sulla and Pompeia. Arms of Philippe de Comines (quartered with that of his mother, Marguerite d'Arnemude) inserted into upper register, with 'PH' monogram of Philippe and Hélène de Chambres-Montsoreau, his wife, to left and right of middle register. Image taken from f. 161 of Les Fais et les Dis des Romains et de autres gens (index Memorabilia, index Facta et Dicta Memorabilia) (part 1, vol. 1). Written in French.
