  • Entered . . . 1838 by W. Chambers . . . Southern District of New York.
  • The Library's impression of the print was deposited for copyright on March 23, 1838. Eight days later Chambers copyrighted a second print on the same affair, "The New Code of Chivalry or What We Would Have Done" (no. 1838-18). Yet another Chambers print, an anti-Clay caricature (no. 1838-16), uses the same "Scene in Washington" title and is very similar in format.
