Description
Français : Sceau de Jean de La Forest. Né vers 1467, décédé en 1537 à Nantua. Fils d'Hugues, seigneur du Cuchet, maître d'hôtel du duc de Savoie, et de Geline de Césarges. Chanoine de Genève et Mâcon (1481), curé de Saint-Gervais (faubourg de Genève, 1483). Etudes à Paris, docteur en droit (1493), protonotaire apostolique et prévôt de Verceil (Piémont). Nommé doyen de la Sainte-Chapelle de Chambéry entre 1496 et 1498. Commendataire du prieuré clunisien de Nantua (1505-1538), de celui de Payerne (1514-1538) et de la prévôté du Grand-Saint-Bernard (1510-1524). Abbé de Saint-Juste à Suse, chantre de la cathédrale de Vienne. Représentant du duc de Savoie en Suisse, L. travailla en 1515 à rapprocher le roi François Ier et les Confédérés. Conseiller et aumônier du duc Charles III de Savoie, il l'accompagna en 1530 au couronnement de Charles Quint à Bologne. Il rédigea son testament le 22 mai 1537.
