Description
English: The twin paintings 'Scarcity in India' and 'British Plenty' was painted by Henry Singleton c. 1794, showcasing the poor people of India, in contrast to the strong military power of Britain with fleets of ships in the background and wealth to feed and clothe its people. The artwork consists of engraving, tinted with watercolor on paper. It is currently exhibited in the March to Freedom Gallery of Indian Museum, Kolkata.
