Summary
[edit]Figure showing ellipses of a common eccentricity (e=0.9) being scaled by λ2, where λ=1 (blue), 2 (green) and 3 (red). Useful in illustrating the Lie transformation that results in the conservation of the Laplace-Runge-Lenz vector. Made by me using my own GPL software (written 29 November 2006), visualized using xmgrace and released under the GFDL.
This graph image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with
{{vector version available|new image name}} .
It is recommended to name the SVG file “Scaled ellipses.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter. |
