Summary
[edit]DescriptionScalar fields theta quadrant.svg |
English: This diagram for the Wikiversity:Special relativity and steps towards general relativity course is used in showing that the coordinate typically called θ, itself a scalar field, has strong gradients near the origin and weak gradients far from the origin. This is a small step towards explaining the algebra of tensor fields. A scalar field is itself a (0,0) tensor field. |

octave source code
[edit]The .svg version of the file, along with a better quality encapsulated postscript file, is produced by
- the following octave source code,
- in a local directory called /tmp
- the .svg file is about 260 times as big as the source code
- the .eps file is about 50 times as big as the source code
