Description |
English: In the dressing room of the Scala Theatre, The Hague, 1931. Lithograph in black on Van Gelder, signed in the stone 'Isaac Israels' (lower right in the image); under passe-partout. Light creasing and foxing (mainly to the margins), else good. Possibly printer's proof for the edition of 50 copies on Japanese.
Notes: In the collection of the Frans Halsmuseum (inv. number mgr 40-6). Probably depicts a study for the painting of the same name (oil on canvas, Sotheby's 2005). Provenance: From the estate of the printer. Dimensions: Image size 42 x 32 cm., passe-partout size 60 x 50 cm. Artist or Maker: ISRAELS, Isaac (Dutch 1865 - 1934). Literature: Wagner 199. |
