Description
English: Design for a Scabbard with Triumphal Procession. Pen and ink, 67 × 29.2 cm, Kunstmuseum Basel. The design shows the triumphal procession, led by elphants, of a Roman general in a chariot. The drawing is in the loose style Holbein used early in the design process. Later "clean" copies by other hands survive, perhaps made for goldsmiths or for woodcuts (Müller, 407–409).
