English: John Verrett (right), a drill rig operator and his assistant Lemon Moses (left) bag soil samples during groundwater investigations near Fort Jackson, S.C., Jan. 26. Soil was extracted using the TerraSonic drill rig—a piece of high-tech machinery that is the only one of its kind within USACE. The drill can be used to perform subsurface and geotechnical investigation projects on the toughest terrains throughout the nation.
