Description
English: Kasthamandap, also known as Maru satta is one of the oldest monuments of Kathmandu. This monument which was built as a public rest house was completely collapsed during earthquake-2015. Before the earthquake, it was believed to have been constructed during 12th century, but the recent archaeological studies have shown that the oldest foundation of the structure is as old as 7th century and the oldest wood being used is as old as 5th century. Kasthamandap is ongoing with the reconstruction currently.
