Satiyamai temple is located in Gauri Village, Ward No. 8, Patkhauli Village, Rupandehi District. According to legend, Satiya was a virtuous woman. She got married to a local resident of Patauli. While going to Dola after getting married, she got lost in the Rohini River near the village. There she was, roaming around as a child in the crowd of people. Standing on that river, Rohani was walking on the water of the river as if on land. Inside the temple, the yellow idol and yellow-robed idol on the right side is the idol of Satiyamai, while on the left is the idol of Hanuman. The temple of Satiyamai is small, but this place is very famous with the name Satiyamai. There is also a Ramjanaki temple near this temple. The locals worship this Satiyama as the protector of children. According to the locals, there is a belief that if children fall ill, they will be cured by worshiping them. A fair is held in the temple of Satiya Mai on the day of Kattik Punirma. Along with the statue of Satiyamai, there is also the statue of Hanuman, while there are various other temples in the Satiya Mai temple complex. |
