Summary

[edit]
Description

This GOES animation shows the movement of two low pressure areas from the Great Lakes to the Mid-Atlantic over the course of three days from June 11 to June 13. These low pressure areas rode a stalled frontal boundary and brought some strong to severe weather with them from Chicago to the Mid-Atlantic states. The animation was created by NASA's GOES Project at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. using data from the GOES-13 satellite.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center forecast a Moderate Risk of severe thunderstorms on Thursday for parts of the Mid-Atlantic, with a Slight Risk area from the Mid-Atlantic to the Gulf Coast states. Significant wind damage expected, along with the possibility of large hail and a few tornadoes. Heavy rainfall will also accompany the system.
