| Description |
Nederlands: "Sashuis" gebouwd boven de sluis. Zeldzaam voorbeeld van stuw- en afsluitwerk voorzien van drie stuwgaten, waarvan één dichtgemetseld (links), één voorzien van ijzeren afsluitplaat (rechts) en centraal afgesloten door een houten deur met natuurstenen middenstijl. Vrijstaand pand, eertijds gebouwd in 1519 naar aanleiding van herbouw van het sluizencomplex met het oog op waterhuishouding en waterpeilbeheersing van de binnenreien. In 1895-1896 grondig gerestaureerd naar ontwerp van architect L. Delacenserie (Brugge). De sluis is buiten gebruik sinds de jaren 1970. Constructie van één bouwlaag parallel aan de Sashuisbrug (1895); drie traveeën onder zadeldak (leien), mogelijk met 16de-eeuwse kern. Verankerde, bakstenen lijstgevels, geritmeerd door steunberen waarvan de overhoekse uitwerking en de met hogels versierde pinakels teruggaan op de vermelde restauratie; hetzelfde geldt voor de getrapte dakvensters (4 trappen + topstuk), de schoorsteenschachten met opgestapelde rookmonden en de kleine dakkapellen. Brede, arduinen plint en hoekkettingen. Zijgevels uitgewerkt als trap- gevels (9 trappen + topstuk) met aan beide kanten een tudorboogdeur. Voorts gerestaureerde bolkozijnen met afgeschuinde dagkanten, telkens onder gekoppelde ontlastingsboogjes. |
