Description
English: Sarleinsbach ( Upper Austria ). Saint Peter parish church: Epitaph ( 1595 ) for Johann of Sprinzenstein and his wife Anne countess Lynar - Christ is vanquishing devil and death - detail: Inscription explaining the relief: "Jonah has been a precursor of our saviour Jesus Christ. Like Jonah has been carried to land at the third day, so has Christ, the true victor, resurrected from death with great power and glory. By that he has prepared us the way that we can resurrect from death and go to heaven."
Deutsch: Sarleinsbach ( Oberösterreich ). Pfarrkirche St. Peter: Epitaph ( 1595 ) für Johann von Sprinzenstein und seine Frau Anna Gräfin Lynar - Christus besiegt Tod und Teufel - Detail: Inschrift zur Erklärung des Reliefs: "Jonas ein Fürbilt gwesen ist / Unsers Erlösers Jesu Christ / Dann wie Jonas vom Wallfisch wirdt / am dritten Tag zu Landt geführt / also vom Todt erstanden ist / der rechte Sigfuerst Jesu Christ / Mit großer Macht und Herrlichkait / Dardurch er uns den Weg berait / daß wir khönnen vom Todt aufstehn / Und in sein Hymelreich eingehn."
