Description
English: A memorial commemorating His Highness Maharaja Mahadaji Scindia – an 18th century Marathi-Indian Noble; Patriot; Statesman. Mahadaji Scindia is considered as one of the greatest man of 18th century Asia and is among very few to have defeated and subdued the British Empire on the Indian subcontinent (First Anglo-Maratha War 1779 CE).

Mahadaji (reigned 1761–94), created a north Indian empire virtually independent of the peshwa. He emerged from war with the British East India Company (1775–82) as the recognized ruler of northwestern India. With the aid of French officers, he defeated the Rajputs and took the Mughal emperor Shah Alam under his protection.

Titles, styles, and honors: His Highness Vakil-ul-Mutlaq (Regent of the Empire), Amir-ul-Umara(Head of the amirs), Shrimant Sardar Mahadaji Shinde (Scindia), Scindia Bahadur, Maharaja of Gwalior, Permanent Deputy to the Peshwa (21-guns salute)

This memorial is located off NH-4, Malinagar, Wadgaon (Vadgaon) Maval, near the town of Pune, India
