Description
English: Sarcophagus with a marine thiasus. The thiasus is a group of creatures around Dionysos. The dead is at the center in a imago clipeata (=image in an oval, litteraly shield-image) sustained by two centaurs. 220-230 after J.-C. Former Borghese collection. Bought in 1807. Invent MR 724. usual N° Ma 396.

Il entoure ici la défunte dans un imago clipeata (=image dans un ovale, au sens littéral image bouclier) portée par deux centaures. 220-230 ap. J.-C. Ancienne collection Borghèse. Achat 1807.
