English: Sarah Anne Fontaine (b. November 5, 1815) was born in Henry County, Virginia, the daughter of William Winston Fontaine and Martha Hale (Dandridge) Fontaine, and the great-granddaughter of Virginia governor and patriot Patrick Henry. She married Edmund Burwell Redd, grandson of Major John Redd, in Henry County on 11 September 1831. She died at 94 years of age. Sarah Anne Fontaine had two brothers, William Spottswood Fontaine and Patrick Henry Fontaine. Sarah Anne Fontaine's uncle Rev. John James Fontaine, grandson of Patrick Henry, married Mary Carr Redd, granddaughter of Major John Redd, and Rev. Fontaine is buried at the Redd family cemetery at Belleview Plantation, the Redd family home in Henry County. |
