Summary
[edit]DescriptionSapper Hill battery, magazine or ammunition store (51058804586).jpg |
A single 6" Breech Loading (BL) Mk. VII gun was sited on Sappers Hill. The date of installation is unknown, however a proposal by the Gunnery Officer on the Islands in 1942 suggested this this gun was relocated to Canopus to join a 6in BL already in position there. Sapper hill was the site of a key battle for Stanley in the 1982 conflict, and is now a key communication site. Not much remains of the coastal defence battery, however I believe this building was the magazine and ammunition store. |
