Founded in 1994, Santa Fe Red’s was the first Mexican-only restaurant in Bozeman. Their original location was (and remains) at 1235 North 7th Avenue.

Shortly after 8:30 AM on March 5, 2009, a gas main explosion and fire destroyed five historic buildings on the north side of the 200 block of East Main Street in Bozeman. Among those buildings destroyed were: • 209-215 E. Main, the Ellis, Davis and Sperling Building (a single building that looked like three, and which contained the Rocking R Bar, Pickle Barrel restaurant, and Boodles bar), constructed in 1929; • 219 E. Main, the Joyce Theatre (which contained the Montana Trails Gallery), constructed in 1889-1890; • 221-223 E. Main, the Odd Fellows (IOOF) Hall (which contained the Lily Lu children's toy store and Tolstedt Architects), constructed in 1891; and • 225 E. Main, the American Legion Building (Gallatin Post bar and Legion hall), constructed in 1949.

The Osborne Building (229 to 233 E. Main) was severely damaged by the explosion. The 1882 structure -- which previously housed -- Starky’s Deli, Great Rocky Mountain Toy Company, and several apartments -- was demolished in April 2010.

In July 2011, the F&H Building opened on the former site of the Ellis, Davis and Sperling Building and the Joyce Theatre. Named for owners Mike Hope and Ralph Ferraro, the 26,691 square-foot, $3.9 million Post-Modern structure is just over 100 feet wide. Locati Architects used contextual architecture theory to design a modern building that looks and feels like the historic structures around it. To create the sense of several buildings constructed at various time periods, the F&H Building is partly recessed from the street, upper floors are recessed from lower ones, some architectural elements are taller than others, some entries are recessed while others are reached by small porticos, and there are balconies on the second floor. A part of the building features open-air cafe seating on a small plaza, while the other part features over-sized awnings. The bar which backs the open-air seating area has a first-floor glass and steel front that can be raised to make the entire business an open-air bar.
