English: Santa Fe New Mexico, 15-19 March 1996.

Drive in from Las Cruces. Nice town. Folklore Museum, Santa Fe Trail Bookstore/Cafe, eat. Governor’s Palace. Loretto Chapel - “miraculous” staircase seem not so impressive for all the hype. “4th World” shop, talk with gal who’d lived in Antigua Guatemala, recommends Blue Corn Cafe - Good. Andean musicians from Ecuador playing on street. Museum of Indian Arts & Culture. Pottery includes Santa Clara Pueblo vase with bearded feathered serpent, Mesoamerican iconography. Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian - good exhibit by contemporary humorous/political artist David Bradley. Fajitas at recommended “REALBURGER”. Downtown “Museum of Fine Arts”. Oldest church. Mall by old train station, get N. Mex wine. Dinner again at Blue Corn Cafe - very satisfying. Day trip Pueblos, hot springs, Frijoles canyon.

Breakfast at Tia Sophias, out to Los Alamos.
