Description
Català: Alguna dada de la història d’aquest edifici, que des de dalt d’un petit turó, s’entesta en fer-nos evident que hi ha havia - hi ha encara – alguna opció millor que convertir el Berguedà en un dipòsit d’aigua potable.

Sant Salvador de la Vedella fou seu d'una petita comunitat monacal depenent de Sant Sadurní de Tavèrnoles. Els seus orígens cal emmarcar-los en la repoblació de la comarca del Berguedà.

Els monjos de Tavèrnoles funden (830) la casa monacal de Sant Salvador, sota la regla de sant Benet. El nom de Vedella procedeix d'albadella (petita abadia). Els seus orígens devien ser eremítics, sota el roc on posteriorment es bastiria l'església romànica s'hi veuen unes coves que devien ser els primers refugis de la comunitat d'Avadella.

Tot i que el monestir s'erigí com una abadia, aviat es convertí en un simple priorat. El 1040 consta la seva dependència de Sant Sadurní. A partir del segle XII la importància del monestir devia minvar considerablement.

En la visita del deganat de Berga (1312, l'església apareix documentada com a parròquia i mantenia el seu caràcter de priorat lligat a la congregació benedictina de Tarragona.

Al segle XV patí una forta davallada i cap el 1580, en extingir-se el monestir de Sant Serni, el lloc passa a ser administrat pel monestir de Sant Pere de la Portella.
