| Description |
English: Westbound freight approaching Sandy on line from Cambridge. View eastward, towards Cambridge: ex-LNW Bletchley - Bedford - Cambridge line, an important east-west link continuing on from Bletchley to Oxford, which should never have been closed but was, on 1/1/68, except for Bedford - Bletchley, and reopened later Oxford - Bicester. Here the line has curved round to join the ECML (out of sight on the right) and share Sandy station before proceeding west to Bedford. The locomotive is Stanier 8F 2-8-0 No. 48446 (built at Swindon in 1944 and worked on the GWR until 5/47, withdrawn 7/65). Behind the train is Redstone Hill. |
