Bahasa Indonesia: Gumuk Pasir Parangtritis adalah sebuah fenomena alam langka dan satu-satunya yang ada di Asia Tenggara. Gumuk pasir ini berupa bukit-bukit atau gundukan pasir seperti padang gurun yang terdapat di Timur Tengah. Pasir-pasir ini merupakan hasil aktivitas vulkanik Gunung Merapi dan Merbabu yang terbawa oleh arus Kali Opak dan Kali Progo. Pada awalnya, masyarakat sekitar tidak melihat suatu hal yang unik dari tempat ini. Namun setelah diadakan berbagai penelitian, barulah mereka sadar bahwa mereka tinggal di salah satu warisan dunia. |
