[edit]DescriptionSand painting - "Yaverland Rectory" - Presented to 'The Iron Lady' by Brian Pike at Cowes, Isle of Wight in 1976...jpg |
English: In the mid-seventies while she was on the hustings, the sand painter was Group Financial controller of a commercial boatbuilding facility and met Mrs.Thatcher in the company boardroom where his sand paintings were being displayed. She was particularly impressed by a sand painting based on a Victorian etching of Yaverland Rectory by I.o.Wight artist George Brannon and she was presented with the picture as a lasting memento of the event.
The sand artist uses natural coloured sands collected on field trips to Alum Bay on the Isle of Wight and other locations in Southern England composing his permanent pictures using sterilised natural coloured sands (with no artificial colours) as 'paint' - bird feathers as 'brushes' and other 'found' materials fixed in place to the recycled baseboard using non-toxic adhesives help create unique works of art in perfect harmony with his green credentials. Dimensions (Framed) 19" by 15 " (49cms by 38cms). |
