This is the 727-100 my beloved brother and I sat on the wing of and ate lunch and took pictures of SJC landings and takeoffs. I took this while the American MD-80 I was riding landed. Not too long after I'm told the 727 was reduced to scrap on-site (I could have saved some of the instruments??) and the building and its contents are all gone now. Another chapter ends. I expect the big dumpsters were part of that effort. And, now that I think about it, I bed the CDF O2 spotter here is the one that wound up in pieces at the North Field at Oakland Airport. Although engineless at this point, I still consider the 727 to qualifiy as a "trijet" DSC_0239 |
