Summary

[edit]
Description

Church of St James in Augusta. A small oval church completed in 1609 by Carlo Maderno, one of the fathers of Baroque.

The suffix "in Augusta" refers to the neighboring Mausoleum of Augustus. The church is also called "of the Incurables" as it was the chapel of the Hospital of San Giacomo degli Incurabili, which treated syphillis patients.
