Transcripción de la ficha:

"Antonio de Padua perteneció a la orden de San Agustín y, tras el martirio de cinco hermanos franciscanos en Marruecos, cambió su hábito por el del santo de Asís, tal como se aprecia en el sayal que porta en este lienzo manierista que se aleja de la Escuela flamenca. Se le representa con tres atributos: el lirio blanco, símbolo de castidad; el libro que celebra su fama como predicador y recuerda que el papa Gregorio IX lo nombró doctor evangelicus de la Iglesia y «Arca del Testamento» por su amplio conocimiento de las Sagradas Escrituras; y el Niño Jesús, en referencia a su más importante milagro: poco antes de morir, el monje recibió asilo en la propiedad del conde Tiso en Camposampiero, Italia; su anfitrión lo espió y presenció la aparición del Hijo de Dios ante el fraile. El santo le pidió no revelar la visita hasta después de su muerte." (Símbolo y Reino, 2023)
