In diesem Hause lebte und wirkte von 1830 bis 1875 SAMUEL HEINRICH SCHWABE. Von hier aus erforschte er vier Jahrzehnten die Sonne. Er entdeckte hier die elfjaehrige Sonnenfleckenperiode. In this house, between 1830 and 1875 lived and worked Samuel Heinrich Schwabe. From here over four decades he researched the sun. He discovered here the 11 year cycle of sun spots.] Although the average Solar Cycle is eleven years, individual cycles can vary between 9 and 14 years. In Dessau in 1857 he received the Gold Medal of the British Royal Astronomical Society from Richard C. Carrington, the sun researcher. He is buried in the cemetery in Dessau.</a> Appropriately he was the eldest of 11 children.
