Description The written word being of such vital importance to the development of any movement, the Bamford family can be considered as having contributed significantly to the Co-operative movement. Three members of the family were editors of Co-op newspapers and father and son, Samuel and William, between them acted as Editor of Co-operative News' for 45 years, while Samuel's daughter, Annie (Tomlinson) was Editor of the Women's Corner of the paper for nearly 30 years. The memorial inscriptions tell the individual stories. Rochdale cemetery.
