English: Small sampler with central square filled with embroidered objects i.e. rider on horseback, man walking a dog, floral forms with birds, man picking fruit, two men fishing, a fountain, small building, and a heart surrounded by a band of writing: "LO. HIZO. CATALINA. DE. ARANAGA. SIENDO DICIPOLA. DE. LA. SA MAESTRA DA MARIA. DE ACHOTEQUI. EN LA EDA DE 10 ANOS ANO DE 1832."
Translation: "Made by Catalina de Aranaga under the instruction of her teacher Senora Maria de Achotequi. Aged 10 years. In the Year of 1832."
Surrounded by wide borders - two of which are the same but the colors are reversed. All embroidered in red and blue on white background. Except for very narrow borders and some writing, all executed in cross stitch. |
