Description
English: Samiran Nandy is a Photographic Artist, and a well-known photographer . Since 1978 serving as Photographer for Visva-Bharati (A Central University). Through his official assignment he covered many eminent personalities of India and abroad.

His work of photography and photo-restoration is well appreciated by the critique. He was attached with Uttar Siksha Sadan (secondary school section of Visva-Bharati) as a part-time photography teacher more than a decade.

As a passionate photographer he extensively visited rural Bengal to portray the people, landscape, nature, cultural activity, architectures, as well as flora and fauna. Day by day he enriched himself with the love of people and Mother Nature. Critiques said that his photography is not mare documentation; there has always been a touch of art.

His photographic contribution appeared many books and journals in India and abroad. An avid photo artist he participates regularly in many salons and competitions, received a number of awards from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Ministry of I & B and from UNICEF for his pictorial works. Actively participates in various national and international photo seminars and workshops.. His photographic works are in the permanent collection of UNICEF. His work of a pictorial album based on poems by Rabindranath Tagore was highly appreciated. Presently he is designing book covers.

As a former member of Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain, alumnae of Photographic Association of Dumdum and a proud student of legendary photo artist Mr. Benu Sen, he is closely associated with Indian pictorial photography world.
