DescriptionSamar Twins Combo circa 1925.jpg |
The "Samar Twins" were conjoined twins born on the Philippine island of Samar in 1908. Like earlier "Siamese Twins" Chang and Eng Bunker, they came to the USA at a young age and were a side show attraction at Coney Island. They returned to the Philippines and married the Matos sisters when they were 21 and then toured America again. The Samar Twins died in New York City in 1936 when one of the twins contracted rheumatic fever.
