English: Kapilvastu district i.e. Tilaurakot, the ancient site of Nepal. The ancient Samai Mai temple is located in the middle of the Tilaurakot forest, the capital of Gautama Buddha's father, the Shakya dynasty king Shuddhodhan. At the base of the big holy Pipal tree is the temple of Samai Mai. There are 3 black stones of artistic style in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. The black stone in the middle is the idol of time mai. To the left of the idol are the bells offered by the devotees. The red cloth offered is also seen. Outside the temple, when the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled, an idol of an elephant is offered. Near the main entrance of the temple, elephants can be seen being offered by many devotees.

PC Mukherjee in his report of 1899 mentions the present Samai Mai temple. He excavated trenches on the west and east sides of the temple, revealing the fact that there were many structures, including octagonal and square buildings, built on different dates. The temple was excavated north of the temple in 2015. Also, in 2018, the trench was widened for excavation to the north of the temple's disco. Remains of a large wall and a brick wall have been found under the Samai Mai temple.

There are many rituals and religious practices associated with Samai Mai. One of these is to come to the temple of the goddess to protect her or to worship her in order to reach her. The main fair of this temple is held only in Phagun every year. Where devotees from all over the region, including Indians, come from across the border. During this time there are traditional worship, singing hymns by women, playing drums, shaving children's hair, reciting holy scriptures, offering offerings.
