| Description |
English: Saltney Ferry Footbridge. This bridge is in the north east corner of the grid square. It replaces an ancient river crossing by ferry at this point. The bridge was built with a removable central section to allow boats with tall masts to navigate upstream. The river Dee is tidal at this point and for a further one mile upstream to the Old Dee Bridge in Chester. There was a spring tide running when the photograph was taken. The water level is normally several feet lower. |
