Description
Deutsch: Saltner (Weinhüter, Südtirol) in Festkleidung. 19. Jh.

English: Saltner (guardian of vineyards in South Tyrol) in festive costume, 19th century. The [standard equipment] wroughtiron cross laying at his feet was not only for spiritual protection, but would also be used as a weapon, in case of emergency (says museum's note).
