English: Salon de l'Horloge (The clock room).It was here that, on 9 May 1950, Robert Schuman gave the speech launching the plan for a European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC). [1]
Français : Le salon de l'Horloge. La hotte de la cheminée est l'œuvre du sculpteur Hubert Lavigne et du peintre Jean Auguste Édouard Liénard : deux enfants assis portent les attributs impériaux, le globe et le sceptre. Sur le fronton, deux autres enfants soutiennent un blason décoré de feuilles de chêne où figuraient autrefois les armes impériales. Dans la niche centrale se dresse une statue de La France réalisée par le sculpteur Joseph-Michel-Ange Pollet. Elle a remplacé en 1860 la statue d'origine exécutée en plâtre par Lavigne et qui représentait L'Empereur Napoléon III. Les bronzes de la cheminée ont été réalisés, d'après des modèles en plâtre de Liénard, par le sculpteur Victor Paillard, qui a aussi fourni la fameuse horloge qui donne son nom au salon.
Le 9 mai 1950, Robert Schuman y prononça le discours qui lança le projet de Communauté européenne du charbon et de l'acier (CECA). [2]
