| Description | The Salem Tavern in Winston-Salem, NC (1784), a national landmark. It was the first brick building in the community. The tavern quickly enjoyed a resputation as one of the finest in the area and many notable visitors stayed there. Perhaps the most notable was George Washington, who stayed in the northeast room for two days during his tour of the South in 1791. |
