|||||||||||||||||||||||
Description |
Saint Chrysogone, was imprisoned for two years, in Rome, under the Emperor Diocletian, surviving thanks to the help of St. Anastasia, who was following his lessons and testifing to his faith by visiting the prisons. Accompanied by a follower, the saint is represented open arms, draped by a rich red coat on a blue dress. Saint Chrysogone is represented naked, bathing in a golden light, a testimony of his holiness. Work of youth, by its classical composition, the attitude of the characters dressed with coats draped in the antique, the bright and contrasted colors, the beautiful made of the painting testifies to the influence of Nicolas Mignard or from Reynaud Levieux. |
