| Description |
English: Saint Notburga, Christian Jorhan der Ältere. Limewood, reverse hollow, polychromed and gilded, sickle restored. The costume and attributes characterize Notburga as the patron of domestic servants. She looks at the sickel that to the horror of her master remained suspended in the air when the bells for prayer rang out. Jorhan was inspired by the Munich style of the time, but lent it a lighter touch.
Deutsch: Lindenholz, rückseitig gehöhlt, farbig gefasst und vergoldet, Sichel erneuert. erworben vom Germanischen Nationalmusem Nürnberg 1905. Restauriert mit Mitteln des Fördererkreises des Germanischen Nationalmusums e.V., 2008-2009. Tracht und Attribute zeichnen Notburga als Patronin der Dienstmägde aus. Sie blickt auf die Sichel, die zum Entsetzen ihres Herrn beim Gebetsläuten in der Luft stehenblieb. Jorhan orientierte sich am Münchner Stil der Zeit, den er in eine heitere Sprache übersetzte. |
