Bélier hydraulique. Au pied du château, cette petite construction contient un bélier hydraulique de la firme Bollée. C'est Alphonse Huet, avocat à Paris, qui aurait fait établir, après 1845, dans la vallée, un bélier hydraulique* qui envoie l'eau quarante mètres plus haut, dans le parc du château, qu'elle arrose en cascades et en ruisseaux. Francis Arthur de Civrieux, propriétaire de 1875 à 1888 a dû en 1879, d'après le registre cadastral, faire démolir le moulin et installer en 1887 un bélier hydraulique Bollée*.
Joseph Montgolfier décrit le principe: « C’est une machine qui a pour effet d’élever l’eau d’une source à un niveau plus élevé que celui de la source, et cela en utilisant la force vive (l'énergie cinétique) de cette eau. Autrement dit, il s’agit d’un dispositif qui utilise le choc de l’eau dans une conduite brusquement fermée (coup de bélier) pour forcer une partie de la masse de liquide à remonter à une altitude supérieure à la hauteur de la source…». Lorsque Joseph de Mongolfier fit la description de son invention à l'Académie des Sciences, l'abbé Bossut, auteur d'un traité d'hydrodynamique, fit remarquer que : "les résultats annoncés ne pouvaient être admis sans qu’on fût du même coup contraint d’admettre la possibilité du mouvement perpétuel, hérésie, condamnée par la raison comme par la science.". Montgolfier fit observer que cette machine impossible fonctionnait au domicile de l’inventeur, rue des Juifs n°18, et il pria l'Académie d'envoyer une commission pour constater le fait.
