Summary
[edit]DescriptionSaint-Moré-east of bridges - IMG 0513.jpg |
English: Saint-Moré, Yonne, Burgundy, France. These cliffs are on the south side of the "côte de Char", a corallian limestone formation that was hollowed by the river Cure to form the caves of Saint-Moré. Some 800 m away from its western end, two tunnels were dug following a north/south direction through the côte de Char: one is for trains, the other for the D606 road further east. Hidden by the trees, the two tunnels enter the cliffs near the left edge of the photo. Also on the left of the photo and level with the top of the corn, the grey horizontal bands that look like low building roofs are the parapet of the railway bridge. The cliffs seen here are on the east of the tunnels. This photo was taken looking east/north-east from the "sentier des grottes d'Arcy et de Saint-Moré" (discovery footpath of the caves of Arcy-sur-Cure and of Saint-Moré), near a small pumping station.
