Description
Français : Inondation du lac Saint-Jean à Saint-Méthode, 1928

Photo prise du clocher de l'église, vers l'Est. (Niveau du lac : à St-Méthode 21.5; à Roberval : 21.29)
1re maison : M. Joseph Doucet : la maison est fermée. M. Doucet a 88 ans; il demeurait seul avec sa vieille. On est venu à leur rescousse à 4h ½ ce matin. Les vieillards étaient aux abois. Il y avait à ce moment près d'un pied d'eau sur le plancher; les deux vieux se tenaient sur des chaises pour ne pas être inondés. Ce fut le voisin, monsieur Francis Darveau qui avec deux compagnons opéra le sauvetage.
« Rien n'était plus triste que de voir partir ces deux pauvres vieux, de les voir s'en aller en tenant avec peine l'équilibre sur les madriers étroits en mal «aplombés» qui servaient de ponceaux. Le père Doucet emportait avec lui un grand plat de farine; meubles, linge et nourriture, tout resta. » (Rapport des sauvetages)
Le père Doucet se réfugia chez son fils Ludger, à St-Méthode.
2e maison : 1re porte (où l'on voit une femme debout) monsieur Francis Darveau; là se trouve le bureau central du téléphone. 2e porte : salle publique
3e maison : Albert Roy, forgeron : la maison masque en partie la boutique de forge
4e maison : (blanche) Magasin de la Cie Duke-Price, tenu par M. Iréné Duguay qui habite le haut de la maison. En arrière de la bâtisse du quai, dont on voit le toit surmonté d'un mâtereau du quai
5e maison : (pignon sur rue) Magasin de Denis Darveau, fermé et vacant
6e maison : Ancien hôtel Gagnon (vendu à la compagnie et vacant) du quai, dont on voit le toit surmonté d'un mâtereau

7e maison : (et dernière visible) M. Alfred Milot. Au-delà de la rivière, les fermes d'Irénée Duguay (dont la maison est occupée par Mendoza Bédard), et de William Savard (plus loin)
