Saint-Gédéon de Grandmont

« L'histoire saint-gédéonaise débuta en 1851 avec l'ouverture d'une scierie de la compagnie Price sur le ruisseau Grandmont, bien que la route des fourrures passa jadis par là. Des agriculteurs s'installèrent ensuite sur la rive nord de la Belle Rivière et ainsi naquit la municipalité en 1864, bien que l'hagiotoponyme fut inspiré plus tard par un Procureur général du Québec, Gédéon Ouimet, qui promit de l'aide aux colons lors d'une visite en 1869. La paroisse fut toutefois nommée St-Antoine-de-Padoue, car Gédéon était un thaumaturge et non un saint. »
