Summary

[edit]
Description ARABIAN GULF (March 3, 2012) Sailors in rigid-hull inflatable boats from the coastal patrol craft USS Firebolt (PC 10) and the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter USCGC Maui (WPB 1304) observe a search and rescue swimmer approach a life raft from the capsized Iranian cargo dhow Abu Al Fazel. Six Iranian mariners were aboard the dhow when it capsized. Firebolt recovered one survivor and the remains of three decreased mariners. The two other mariners are presumed lost at sea. Firebolt and Maui are assigned to Commander, Task Force 55, supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
