Lantaarnplaat, Boerenoorlog (1899-1902), 1900. 4,7 inch marinekanonnen in actie in Zuid-Afrika, 1900. Om het op te nemen tegen de vaak superieure Boerenartillerie, monteerden de Britten zeewapens op geïmproviseerde wagens. Aan kapitein (later admiraal Sir) Percy Moreton Scott van HMS Terrible wordt het ontwerp van deze wagens toegeschreven. Deze zware kanonnen werden bemand door marinebemanningen en getrokken door grote ossenploegen. Lantern slide, Boer War (1899-1902), 1900. 4.7 inch naval guns in action in South Africa, 1900. To match often superior Boer artillery the British mounted naval guns on improvised carriages. Captain (later Admiral Sir) Percy Moreton Scott of HMS Terrible is credited with the design of these carriages. These heavy guns were manned by naval crews and pulled by large teams of oxen. Om mee te ding teen die dikwels voortreflike Boere-artillerie, het die Britte vlootwapens op geïmproviseerde waens gemonteer.
