日本語: 愛媛県松山市下伊台町の西法寺にある薄墨桜は、和名イヨウスズミサクラといい、花径は3cmぐらい、花弁は20枚ぐらいの八重咲きのヤマザクラ系の1品種で、色は白色で微紅をおびている。桜の名の由来には2、3の説があるが、有力なのは、昔、斉明天皇(天武天皇又は嵯峨天皇の皇后との説あり)がご病気の折、勅命があり、この寺一山をあげて祈とうしたところ、平癒されたので、天皇は大変喜ばれて、勅使をつかわされ、薄墨の綸旨に桜の木をそえて下賜され、それ以来この桜を薄墨桜と称するようになったというもの。「伊予節」の名所づくしに「薄墨桜や緋のかぶら」とうたわれた名桜。 |
