Title
S shaped fastener
Description
English: Bent and perhaps incomplete S-shaped fastener. One end has a animal head with a long snout and a swept-back crest above the eye, perhaps a little more worn or less well modelled on one face. All sides of the centre of the fastener are decorated with a low-relief pattern of overlapping scales. As the fastener curves into the second loop, it becomes unbent into a long, thin, undecorated end. There is no trace of any animal head at this end, and it may originally have represented a tail. The original length was probably c. 35 mm, but it is now 50 mm long. Although the unbent end looks long, measurement shows that it is in fact no longer than the head end.
