English: The Scottish Universities’ Mission Institution School, started in 1886. Reverent Macfarlane was sent to Kalimpong in 1886, as the first Scottish Universities missionary, to start a training school for teachers and catechists. On 19 April 1886 the Training Institute was formally opened with twelve students.
