Description
English: ON THIS ISLAND CHAMPLAIN IN 1604-1605 STAYED AFTER HIS EXPLORATION OF THE ATLANTIC COAST DOWN TO CAPE COD. ALL THE BUILDINGS ARE GONE; THE SPRING RAN DRY AND THE SANDY SOIL DID NOT SUPPORT VEGETABLES SO THAT 35 MEN DIED. SECOND OLDEST YEAR ROUND SETTLEMENT BY EUROPEANS NORTH OF FLORIDA. THIS PICTURES SHOWS THE ISLAND LOCATED IN THE ST. JOHN'S RIVER BETWEEN MAINE AND NEW BRUNSWICK, CANADA
