[edit]DescriptionSR-71A Blackbird, American Air Museum, Duxford - geograph.org.uk - 887294.jpg |
English: SR-71A Blackbird, American Air Museum, Duxford Built by Lockheed, the SR-71 still holds the record for the fastest (mach 3.31, 2,193 MPH), highest flying (85,069 ft) manned aircraft. As a strategic reconnaissance aircraft it was designed to evade cold war era air defences and used stealth technology. The structure made extensive use of Titanium to cope with the thermal loads caused by the high speed. |
